Teacup Study #1

25 cm x 25 cm, oil on canvas panel (towards the end of 2021)

This study makes it here for no other reason than my fondness for it and my plans to repaint it!

Genuinely, it’s a failed practice piece that I adore to the bits. I was trying to learn textures and you can see the cloth and flower textures being both too smooth and not delicate enough, Porcelain is kind of there. Water, not so much. But painting this overlaps with a period of my streaming and learning journey where I made friends, felt serious about my future plans, and gained the praise of someone I consider to be a mentor and an idol to me.

Maybe when I repaint it, I will take the old one down from my portfolio and put the new one up. But the teacup will forever remind me that I chose what makes me truly happy and I am glad I did.

The reference image is a popular Image that circles Instagram and Pinterest. I do not own it therefore I do not fully own the finished painting either. Attempting to reverse search it in the hopes to find the photographer led me to countless blogs and accounts that reposted it. If you do know who it originally belongs to, please let me know. I would like to contact them.
